The purpose
of this camp is to educate young people from all ages of 8 -25 years in various aspects of the cattle industry.

The aim
of the camp is to ensure cattle handling skills are not lost within the industry.

Under direction of the committee who has extensive experience in the cattle industry, the participant’s will gain knowledge and hands on experience in:

  • Handling skills in and out of the show ring
  • Safety
  • Cattle health and nutrition
  • Public speaking

The 2019 camp attracted 100 registered participants and the feedback from the fifteen camps we have conducted has been extremely positive. Volunteer work and employment opportunities arise for participants with several past participants been employed by stock firms, stud breeders and a rural newspaper firm, whilst others volunteer their services as cattle stewards or handlers. Western Australian’s first female livestock auctioneer was a participant at the camp and has returned to be a camp leader several times. Numerous participants have gone on to win judging and handling competitions at major shows and events. Past participants have even gone on to be judges and associate judges at country shows around Western Australia and at Perth Royal Show.
